The Rapidform Success Conference offers more than 30 individual courses organized in a series of recommended training tracks based on Rapidform skill level and interests. During registration, you’ll select which training track is right for you.
New User Training Track
There is always a learning curve and this track is perfect for new users. It’s a four day training program that covers various topics as follows:
1. Introduction to XOR – This topic covers information on what to expect and what to do when you open XOR such as user interface, basic workflow, importing different types of data etc.
2. Basic Mesh Processing – Don’t know if you’re using the right techniques to get the best possible merged scans? This course covers the ins and outs of mesh processing, including topics such as noise reduction, sampling, alignment & merging of scans.
3. Autosurface – It is a great way to quickly create NURBS surface models from meshes. But you have to have a clean mesh in order to autosurface, so this course covers how to prep a mesh for high quality autosurfacing, how to lay out an optimal surface patch network, pitfalls to watch out for, and advanced techniques like using a reference mesh.
4. Region Group – Do you know you can color code a mesh based on its feature information. We call it regions and this class is about how to make regions.
5. Alignment – Topics include aligning mesh to each other, mesh to origin etc.
6. Modeling – XOR is all about reverse modeling and in this class you will learn how to build parametric models based on a given mesh data.
Intermediate & Advanced Training Tracks
The following are the classes offered in two levels, both intermediate and advanced. The files used in the respective classes are different, with more complex design problems in the advanced training track courses.
Mesh Processing Techniques
The starting point for RE is mesh handling and this course will address questions on how to optimize a mesh for various post processing purposes such as visualization, machining, FEA, autosurfacing and/or 3G modeling (parametric RE).
Hybrid Modeling (for intermediate users only)
XOR can autosurface, mesh fit surface, loft, sweep and solid model — but when do you use which capability? This course gives an insight on modeling a part that has a combination of freeform and prismatic shapes. We’ll teach hybrid modeling techniques so that you can quickly generate parametric models, which works wonderfully on molded and cast parts.
Solid Modeling Techniques
Learn how to perform a parametric redesign job like an expert with hands on experience reverse engineering a mechanical component.
Surfacing Techniques
Learn how to create a design intent surface model on a complex freeform shape while achieving high surface quality. This class shows best practices in surface lofting, using loft wizards and boundary fit surfacing. This is a very advanced course and users need to have a very good understanding of XOR before this class.
LiveTransfer: XOR to SolidWorks, Pro/E and UG NX
This is the perfect course to learn various tips and tricks on a hot topic: XOR’s liveTransfer. This course involves liveTransfering a parametrically modeled part from XOR to SolidWorks, Pro/E and UG NX and it will also highlight XOR modeling tricks to perform a better and smooth LiveTransfer into various CAD systems. As an added bonus, Rapidform engineers will share their experience in transferring models from XOR to various post processing softwares including CAD, FEA, CFD, CAE, etc.
Quality Inspection Classes
The inspection classes are optional choice for class on Thursday afternoon and Friday for all users
Introduction to XOV2
This three hour class covers the new features of XOV2, and teaches you the ins and outs of alignment, deviation color mapping, repeated inspection automation, and generating reports.
Smart GD&T Special Guest Trainer
Get an in-depth look at GD&T concepts and how you can use XOV to perform geometric dimensioning and tolerancing with this session led by Bill Tandler, president of Multi Metrics, author of Smart GD&T, and one of the leading authorities on GD&T. Learn more about Smart GD&T Training.
Workshops
Scanner Workshop
Get hands on experience on how to optimally run a liveScan session in Rapidform. This course will go over detailed options of Rapidform’s liveScan feature, with emphasis on how scan faster and more effectively inside of XOR, XOS and XOV.
Mesh Workshop
Bring your own part, point clouds or imperfect meshes, and get expert advice from experienced Rapidform personnel on how best to scan and/or optimize them.
XOR Surface and Solid Modeling Workshop
Don’t know the best way to go from your scan to a surface or a solid? Get hands on advice on modeling your own solid or sheetmetal part. Bring your own mesh/point cloud and get the expert advice from Rapidform engineers. This course is offered for both RapidWorks and XOR customers seperately
Inspection Workshop
Get trained to do inspection on your very own part. Bring your own nominal (CAD/mesh) and scan (mesh/point cloud) data and get expert advice from Rapidform engineers on how to perform an optimal inspection process inside XOV2. If you dont have your own inspection parts, then learn you can learn pre-defined advanced XOV2 topics such as best practices of GD&T
