RapidWorks 2.3 Released, adds 64 bit option

By Tom Charron • May 16th, 2008 • Category: Product News

We’ve just released RapidWorks 2.3, which has some nice improvements to hole filling on meshes, as well as a bunch of enhancements throughout the software. The biggest news, though, is that with the 2.3 release, 64 bit is now available. If you ever run out of memory while processing big scan data sets, you can switch to 64 bit at no cost. You’ll need to have Windows XP64 or Vista 64. Once you do, RapidWorks will be able to use more than 2GB of RAM (the per-application limit on 32 bit systems). That means 20, 30, even 100 million points are no problem with a powerful 64 bit PC packed with RAM.

RapidWorks releases typically follow XOR releases by a few weeks — RW 2.3 adds the features that were introduced in XOR2 Service Pack 1 (if you didn’t know, RapidWorks is the same software as XOR, except that it’s exclusive to the NextEngine 3D scanner).
